May 10 is World Lupus Day, when people across the globe will come together to raise awareness, share their stories, and show support for the millions of people living with lupus.
The urgent need for a better understanding of lupus is greater than ever. This year, the World Lupus Federation (WLF) is conducting an international public survey to assess global awareness and understanding of lupus. The insights from this survey will uncover what people know, and don’t know about this chronic debilitating disease, and point to opportunities to strengthen lupus awareness, education and advocacy around the world. The findings will be released on May 5 as part of an effort to encourage supporters worldwide to share information about lupus both leading up to and on World Lupus Day on May 10.
The World Lupus Day Toolkit has been refreshed for 2026 with updated messaging, resources, shareable graphics (in English and Spanish), and simple ways to spark lupus conversations in your community and online. Whether you’re posting on social media, talking to friends and family, or advocating in your own locality, every action helps push lupus awareness forward.
On May 10, join lupus warriors, family and friends, advocates, and organizations worldwide by sharing lupus facts, personal stories and, and helping to raise awareness by using #WorldLupusDay and #MakeLupusVisible on social media to stay connected. People across the globe are also invited to show visible solidarity by wearing purple and lighting buildings in purple, turning public spaces into a collective signal that the fight to end lupus is seen, shared, and gaining momentum.
Now is the time to get involved. Visit the toolkit, mark your calendar, and help bring greater awareness to lupus—because increased understanding leads to earlier diagnosis, better care, and stronger support for those who need it most.
